OBJECTIVE
This project served as the final requirement for our Multimedia subject, allowing us to apply all the creative and technical skills we learned throughout the semester, including storyboarding, filming, editing, sound design, and graphic layout. As a group, we decided to produce a meaningful short film that raises awareness about mental health and self-reflection, a topic that many students and individuals can relate to.
CHALLENGE
Before filming, we needed to carefully visualize each scene through a detailed storyboard, planning the right camera angles, lighting, and pacing to align with the story’s emotion. During production, we faced inconsistencies in video quality and color due to using two different DSLR cameras. Balancing these visual differences while maintaining a cohesive cinematic look was a major challenge.
APPROACH/ SOLUTION
Our team collaborated closely in storyboarding and direction to ensure every shot conveyed the intended message. During post-production, I applied color correction and grading in Adobe Premiere Pro to balance the footage and achieve visual consistency. I also directed and edited the music and sound effects, carefully choosing background tracks and ambient sounds that enhanced the film’s emotional tone. To complete the project, I designed the poster and CD cover in Canva, using minimal yet impactful visuals that reflected the message of silent struggle and hope.
RESULTS/ OUTCOME
Through teamwork, creativity, and technical problem-solving, we successfully completed the short film and its accompanying materials. The project received positive feedback from our professor for both its concept and execution, highlighting its emotional impact and cohesive presentation.
